Re:  a mother with level 3 pain who has been treating for the same problem
for many months and is no better.  This mother probably has a bacterial
infection and a very intrenched one by now.  Not all deep breast pain is
fungal, and I'm suspicious that this is a much rarer phenomenon than
low-grade mastitis caused by stubborn bacteria, probably acquired in the
hospt. through broken nipple skin before mom ever goes home.   After 3
months on diflucan there can't be a single fungal spore left alive in the
poor woman's body.  What on earth does she stand to lose by culturing and
treating with a good abx?
