I would assume that a woman who had enough assymetry to seek a unilateral
reduction had hypolasia of the smaller breast.

If you have ever watched liposuction, it is a very crude procedure.  The fat
is basically vacuumed out as the probe is rammed around.  It would not
surprise me that most of the functional tissue would be destroyed.  So a mom
with unilateral reduction (especially by liposuction!!) would be at
increased risk of lactation failure, because the untouched breast is likely
hypoplastic. I might hope that subsequent babies might do a bit better...the
human body is an amazing thing.

As for what to tell a mom who has had liposuction and not tried to lactate
yet, I would tell her there is no way to know what will happen, but would
have her baby weighed very frequently in the early days, and supplement as
needed.
