Hi Ruth,

I've had some experience with moms who are - dare I say it - "older primips"
- 38+ who seem to have more difficulty with abundant milk production - all
other things being equal, and no other reason for it. These aren't moms that
have had infertility - they have simply postponed pregnancy. It doesn't
happen in all of them, and I don't find it nearly as much in my "elderly"
multips who have bf before.

I did read in one "oldish" OB book (Greenhill's, I think) circa 1974, that as
we age, involution of the mammary glandular tissue does occur. It was
probably the only useful thing I got out of the book, and I don't know if it
was accurate or not. Anyone else know?

I too have wondered if they were young grandmothers who bf their
grandchildren - hard to know.

Jan
