Heather reports that she is concerned and knows that this is NOT normal.

"Baby had 5 full meconium diapers in the 1st 24 hours of life then one mec
diaper on day 3. After that baby has had none in the next 3 full days.

"Baby has eaten every 2 hours during the day for the last 3 days, and every
3-4 hours at night. Mom is bursting with milk

"There is no yellow coloring visible on baby, and baby has been wetting
diapers often.

"Baby is acting alert and happy, not crying except when hungry, and sleeping
fine?"

My personal opinion is that it may very well be NORMAL. As Jack
Newman says, "There is entirely too much 'poop watching' going on in the
US!" I couldn't agree more. Has anyone tried stimulating the babe to
stool? Try using cotton tipped applicator or a thermometer (not as safe)
really gooped with K-Y jelly and inserting it into the babe's rectum approx.
1/4 inch (.6 cm) and wiggle it around a bit and they will usually poop right
around it.
If the babe appears normal in every other way except for the stools,
I would think he's OK. If he's in trouble I would think he would be very
jaundiced at this point.
Good luck and please let us know what they find.
