SOS re supply and horrible poos!

My nervous wreck of a friend has a daughter who has recently (almost 3 weeks
ago) birthed a beautiful baby girl; but problems have arisen and she had to
be admitted to the local hospital to have I/V antibiotics for mastitis and a
cracked nipple that has not healed.

The baby lost some weight in the first two weeks (110/3030); regained the
110 gms and has now again lost the weight.

Is receiving 3 hourly EBM (4th hourly requirement is 70 mls) - Mum's supply
is down but baby's output is fine - wet nappy at every feed - she is alert,
active and responsive. The neonatoligist is ordering 70 mls 3rd hourly ie
the fourth hourly requirement every 3 hours - hmmmm; however though poos
are yellow mustard seed and that's OK, every now anfd then and mostly at
night she has a very mucousy yellow poo that we don't understand - could be
the antibiotics but ???

Mum has a history of polycystic ovaries.

My suggestion to my friend is to relax and go and see a good movie; but
grateful if anyone has sugestions re how to increase mum's supply and ideas
about these horrible poos would be appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation

Jenny McLoughlin
