I have heard of excessive amounts of IV fluids in labor swelling moms up to
a point the areola is puffy and hard for baby to latch , but a mom has just
told me that eh had toxemia, was in the hospital for 2 days on lots of IV
fluids before she delivered and now her 2.5 week old baby is still not
gaining weight and the pediatrician is saying it is because of the excess
fluids the baby got from mom when mom was in the hospital those 2 days.

This is what the mom wrote me :
"This doctor I went to yesterday said
she had been to some kind of doctors study about the effects of IV fluids on
the baby and that if the mother had received lots of IV fluids a better
measure of how the baby is doing is by output in the diapers and not
necessarily weight for the first three weeks."

I have never heard this and am anxious for your opinions.
Thanks
Cindy
