Please let us not forget the baby - what is best for him/her. This poor
little individual may have a short life, and one possibly filled with
physical pain. I would encourage a greiving new mom to think about that
little baby and forget protecting herself from getting too close... give
that child enough love, affection and breastmilk as is possible in the time
left. A lifetime of love squeezed into a short period. If that includes
pumping, then even better - at least the baby won't have the added stress of
digesting ABM. Encourage putting baby skin to skin if at all possible. At
least let baby try to nurse. Make memories, the child is worth it.
