It is my understanding that only efferent nerves are involved in MER.
Once the impulses go from the nippleareolar complex to the hypothalamus,
the rest of it is hormonal.

Myoepethelial cells are not muscle cells. They are a specialized type of
epithelial cell deriving from the skin layer. They are not directly
ennervated by nerves as muscles are. Therefore, their contraction does
not occur because of nerve ennervation as contraction of a muscle cell
does. They contract specifically in response to the oxytocin reaching
them in the general circulation. In some research animals, at least,
there is also a reflex "tap" response whereby they contract from direct
external tapping.

My $.02 on the mother's feet tingling have to do with circulation.
Oxytocin is very closely related chemically with another posterior
pituitary secretion, anti-diuretic hormone (ADH). Its other name is
vasopressin. It is intimately bound up with constriction of blood vessels
and the control of the blood pressure. I am wondering whether there could
be some crossover effect.

I am with Chris in that it wouldn't hurt to see a physician, if for
nothing more than to have her blood pressure status checked. It also
occurred to me (because I have had some problems with my feet over the
years) whether riding a stationary bike for 10-20 minutes a day, or
deliberately climbing extra stairs for exercise might improve the
circulation in her feet. I can tell the difference in my own feet with
less tingling when I consistently do this. Just a thought.
