Mary Kay,

I am sorry that you felt demeaned by my post. This was certainly not my
intention. Vicki is the first IBCLC I called when I did my first
consult. I respect her knowledge base. I have learned a great deal
from her as well as from the other IBCLCs in our local ILCA affiliate
group. They have taught me much about breastfeeding.

My question was a simple matter of curiosity.

My background is in some ways similar to yours. I started out in a
college-based nursing program. To make a long story short, I ended up
with an RN and no degree.

How right you are about not lumping everyone into a mold. I have known
nursing assistants, technicians and practical nurses who made astute
observations and assessment and who had already done what I thought they
should do before I suggested it.

Sorry to have said something that you felt was condescending; thanks for
calling my attention to it.
