How safe is it for an exhausted mom to fall asleep while "safely" sitting
up in a chair, and drop her baby on the floor?

With Linda's list of resources, you have the most up to date info
available. Get thee to a medical library pronto & get copies of the
articles, full article rather than abstract where possible. The higher the
stack of articles the better. They should feel obligated to read them all
since they're from peer-reviewed journals. Try for a delay in any actions
until everyone has a chance to review all the evidence. If they object to
any aspect of these articles, isn't it up to THEM to provide peer-reviewed
articles that support their objection?

They are talking about making laws here. In my Civil Lit class in paralegal
school, the instructor wasn't really joking when he said something to the
effect that, He Who Throws The Most Paper Wins! It's all about research and
evidence - on both sides.
