The  suggestion that mentors should be paid for their time is an intriguing
one,  coming from a medical model where interns and residents (and for  that
matter, junior nurses) are *paid* (though not much!) during their  training
time.  Mentorship is considered very prestigious, something  to be cited on
a resume.



However, in most other professions, we pay to get the experience.   Nursing,
social work, dental hygiene, etc. all pay for the clinicals that they
undergo.  The medical profession is an exception to the rule.
