Talk about checking back on references already read!

A while back there was a post about St. John's Wort ( Hypericum perforatum)
apparently causing over-supply and/or strong letdown. Has anyone else seen
anything unusual in the use of this plant with lactation?

An interesting entry in Bingel and Farnsworth's article ( 1994 ) listing over
400 plants with ethnobotanical citations of galactogogue use:

Hypericum perforatum : "Fluid extract of inflorescences (flowers) in lard
employed externally as an ointment for caked breasts"- Lilly's Hand Book of
Pharmacy and Therapeutics (Eli Lilly and Co., Indianapolis, USA ) 1898.

Also in same article: Three species of Astragalus listed as used for
galactagogue effect - from the Mediterranean ( A.glaux ), decoction used by
women, fed to cows in Ukraine ( A. glycyphyllos), and from India ( A.
hamosus).

No mention of Ginkgo biloba use in this article or in anything else on hand (
I think! ).
