My two cents on LAM & LA.  I am currently tandem nursing my two daughters,
2 yrs 3 mos & almost 4 mos.   My periods returned at 10 mos. pp w/my first
& I ovulated the next cycle.  In fact, I believe I may have been pregnant &
miscarried after my second cycle (I had morning sickness etc. but didn't
get around to testing before my period came).  I conceived my second
daughter 14 mos. pp.  With my first I co-slept, nursed on cue, wore her in
the sling almost constantly, was physically present for virtually all of
her naps (can you say high needs baby?!), & encouraged as much skin to skin
as I could.  We did have a nightlight in our room.

At the time I was eating lots of flax (seed in my homemade bread & oil in
my yogurt).  I attended a session on Herbs In The Childbearing Women & the
CNM presenting mentioned that flax seed was a great fertility enhancer.  I
exclaimed "So that's why I am pregnant!"

I had irregular periods all my life & going six mos without menstruating
was not unheard of.  I had to use chinese herbs to get pregnant with first.

I have a friend who is an LA savant & we discovered that in ourselves &
others the addition of flax (Omega 3 EFAs presumably the causal agent)
provided remarkably clear fertility signs even while breastfeeding (where
the signals are sometimes difficult to read).

Any other experience out there with Omega 3s & LAM/LA while BFing?
