The Vivelle patch is a prolonged release transdermal estrogen patch used for
menopausal symptoms. As far as I know, it is never used as a birth control
device.

Re : Diprolene
Diprolene is a high potency topical steroid. It should only be used briefly
on the nipple if at all. For use in psoriasis, the newest therapy is to use
steroids only several days a week, lest the lesion becomes totally
resistant to the steroid. Generally, higher potency steroids are used, but
again, only on two days a week.
I would use caution with Diprolene on the nipple, unless it is thoroughly
washed off...particularly if it is used often. Symptoms of steroid abuse in
such a neonate would be a perioral rash (initially).
