Hello Ladies,

I was wondering if you had any information or tips to give mothers when
their baby boys are being circumcised by a Mohel in a Jewish ceremony. I
know in the hospital they use sweet-ies on a pacifier but I wouldn't want=
to suggest that, obviously. Your thought here would be much appreciated!!

TIA!

I think a handkerchief dipped in red wine is the customary dummy for these
rituals. There is a very good article on Mothering.com's front page right
now about the strong movement within religious communities to end this
cutting of baby boy genitals. See it at:

The pain and breastfeeding interference is there, not only for the ceremony
but also for the days following the surgery especially when the baby pees or
poops.
