Oh my goodness - "Your baby has a diaper rash so you need to stop breastfeeding"!!! What will they think of next?!? "Your baby is drooling a lot - you need to stop BFing"?? Sheesh!

I agree with whomever posted about the food sensitivity. Dairy and acidic foods (tomato, orange juice) can be big culprits in my experience. Also is she using commercial wipes? Even the "newborn" ones are far too strong for new skin. I'd advise mom to use just plain water on washcloths or soft paper towels or cotton pads. Also the commercial disposable diapers often have "skin enhancers" in the lining. If she wants to use sposies, what about an all natural brand without the gel and skin enhancers? Otherwise, cloth and going coverless (or totally diaperless) when possible.

There's a paste called "triple paste" that is available OTC but usually the pharmacist mixes it fresh - have her check with her local pharmacy. Some other natural remedies could include soaking in oatmeal bath or baking soda bath. Emu oil (available at local health stores) is also said to have skin regnerating powers and might be worth a try in addition to a protectant/treatment cream like the triple paste.

Good luck to this mom! I hope she finds something that works!
