A lot of the research for this campaign was conducted in the Puget Sound area. You can learn all about The Period of Purple Crying here:

It's interesting after attending a recent state DOH seminar there was a lengthy discussion amongst our group regarding the use of this approach, and The Happiest Baby and if these 2 concepts are compatible. The fear was that for some babies teaching parents that crying is always preventable if the parents use a specific soothing method may be unrealistic.
