A nurse on another list posted a question about trach fed BF babies and my
response seems to have caused interest so, since I'm feeling so verbal
tonight, I thought I'd post it here.

I have a close friend who nursed a baby with a trach for about a year. My
friend was not an experienced BFer - it was her first baby - she just
wanted to do it to help her baby who had many other problems, the main ones
being stenosis and laryngal web. The nurses at the hospital were very proud
of her and said she was the first mom of a trach baby in their experience
to bf so persistently.
The trach is gone now, BTW, the web is kind of fixed, and although not very
verbal yet (she could make no sound at all for 12 months), the almost 2
year old is developing extremely well.
So - encourage Moms with trach babies to BF!
