Two questions for those who routinely work with babies born at home or  birth 
centers:
(Not that hospital based would not know the answer, but most hospitals  would 
not allow the situation to occur without intervention.)
 
1.  How long after a baby is born is it safe for the baby to not  eat?  
Assuming baby had one good feeding at birth, all vitals are normal,  and glucose 
levels are still high, no signs of jaundice, etc.
 
2.  What would determine it is no longer safe to wait for the baby to  choose 
to eat?
 
And, for everyone:
Do we know the caloric value of amniotic fluid?
