I am new to Lactnet and have a client with systemic yeast infection with
extreme nipple pain for 6 weeks now. Nystatin and Diflucan have not made a
difference for more than two days and then symptoms return. The pain is
internal, breasts are bright red but there are no external cracks or marks.
Latch has been corrected. The client has already been treated successfully
for mastitis a few weeks ago and no fever is present, just extreme internal
pain in the breasts. Milk production is falling off and now she cannot pump
any out at all. Baby is also being treated for yeast, although he is
usually asymptomatic. Mom is on an anti-yeast diet, supplementation and
acidophilus. Any suggesations would be appreciated.
