Naomi,
Emerging from lurkdom to comment on your posting...
Our high-risk OB unit once had a mom admitted postbirth for PIH. She
had presented to the ER (not to OB triage) for abdominal pain and was
found to be in labor. Baby checked out at about 34 weeks on Dubowitz
exam. When caring for her postpartum, she told me she and hubby had
been married for just over a decade (they were both in their early to
mid-thirties), had never used contraception nor had they ever
concieved. Interesting that she also said her periods were *very*
irregular, and cycles tended to be long, like 32 days and more.
Neither she nor husband suspected she was pregnant as she had light
bleeding and spotting intermittently throughout. Maybe neither of them
wanted to get their hopes up. I am curious to know, though, how they
interpreted fetal movement; at 34 weeks, my babies were quite active!
