Patricia/Sylvia:

I am sure that these courses are worthwhile and important. They
allow people to receive basics in lactation so that they can have a greater
knowledge base. This is an appropriate tool for the person who wants or needs
greater knowledge but does not wish to immerse themselves in the field.

The problem that arrises is that there are pepole who take these
2,3,4,5 day course and then go home and set up a private practice....

I do not know how this situation can be delt with appropriately.
Consumer education is ceritianly one place to start.
