There it is in black and white: in the NY Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/08/26/health/nutrition/26OBES.html
>Formula-fed babies, a series of studies has shown, have higher odds of
being obese than breast-fed babies do, and the new report advises
pediatricians to "support and protect breast-feeding." <

Interesting that higher birth weight babies are also at risk. Last week we
had a baby 4K800g whose mother ( no gestational diabetes, and normal vaginal
delivery because the ultrasound said that he was 4 K) was sure that her milk
could not possibly support the growth of this large baby. Luckily the baby
thought differently, and vomited the artificial milk. I am sure most
mothers of these large babies think that they have to supplement, and end up
losing the breastfeeding.
