Dear Arlene, Monique and Lactnet family,

I went to this site yesterday and it scared me to pieces! Just to look at
that baby "strapped" to the contraption was horrifying! The mom is ignoring
the baby completely and reading a magazine! (At least if she were reading a
parenting book I would have a little hope. ) The baby is completely "shut
down"; eyes looking away from Mom and glazed, (after all, she is giving him
no reason to gaze on her!) and is LIMP, a sure sign of "removing himself"
from the situation, rather like a schizophrenic or Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder victim would. Not to mention that the bottle is shoved into his
mouth and if he started to choke, Mom would waste precious seconds having to
unstrap and remove the bottle. (Read chemical aspiration pneumonia, folks!)
And the Pacifeeder they advertise is just as scary. What happens when you're
driving at highway speed and that child who's being "conveniently" fed in
the back aspirates? What does it take to convince parents that it is THEIR
responsibility, not the bottle's or other contraption's responsibility, to
feed the baby! I did like the Maya wrap, though. I did e-mail the site and
express all my concerns and my disappointment with their product choices. No
response as yet.
