Hi Anne Marie-

You wrote:

I want to thank you for reminding all of us that not only is each nursing dyad unique, but also the experience is different w/each new little nursling a mother has. I think it is too easy for us as the "experts" to judge (admit it, we all do it) a mother when a nursing experience has gone awry. They didn't do enough skin to skin, they let the baby sleep too long at night, they gave a pacifier, and so on..... We, as the professional, cannot forget that a mother does the best she can at that very moment. And yes, although some have made poor choices in hindsight, (or even in foresight as some decisions are glaringly obvious as being detrimental to establishing a good milk supply), they did the best they could based on the level of support and/or knowledge that they had at the time.

Remember Anne Marie-what I am sure you have told many mothers-it is all in persistence. You are working hard and most likely you will get where you need to be w/time. I cannot imagine how stressed and exhausted you must be-not only w/a newborn who is having difficulty feeding, but with 7 other children! You take care of yourself and know that we will keep you in our prayers.

Warmly,
