I tell all my parents to get a very fine nail file on the way home from the
hospital, file those nails and let those baby's hands go free!  (I pass
around an example of a very fine file.)

Not emery boards, they make paper cuts.

I point out how keeping a baby's hands covered is somewhat similar to
keeping earplugs in or a blindfold on, in terms of reducing stimulation,
because we get so much information from our hands.

I never knew the mittens were a risk to life, also!
