Does anyone have experience with breastfeeding mothers taking a food
supplement called Metabolife ? Could it affect milk supply or cause
negative effects in the baby ?

A local BF mom was going to wean her 8 month old in order to take this
supplement to loose weight. She was convinced not to wean until after
winter. I'd like to share any info anyone has with her.

From what I understand, you buy this supplement in the little booths you
find in US shopping malls. It is supposed to boost one's metabolism in
order to facilitate weight loss. The bottle says to take 1-2 tabs/ 2-3
times/day about 1 hour before meals (approx. every 4 hours) and not to take
more than 8 tabs/day.

The following ingredients are listed on the bottle (per tablet):
Vit E 6 iu
Magnesium Chelate 75 mg
Zinc 5 mg
Chromium 75 mcg

Proprietary Blend 728 mg
Guarana Conc. seed (40 mg naturally occurring caffeine)
Ma Huang Conc. (12 mg naturally occurring ephedrines)
Bee pollen
Ginseng (root)
Ginger (root)
Lecithin
Bovine Complex
Damiana
Sarsaparilla
Golden Seal
Nettles (leaf)
Gotu Kola
Spirulina
Royal Jelly
