I have been asked to help with prenatal, postpartum and home visit protocols
for a grant-funded program. The program is designed to prevent prematurity
and will work with at-risk women who have already had one premature baby.
They want breastfeeding to be a big part of the support and education the
participants receive. It is an urban city in a medium sized southern city. I
have a feeling there will be a large minority participation (which excites
me as an African-American woman).

Any information on how to educate and support the nurses who will be doing
home visits is needed. These are nurses who may or may not have any specific
lactation training.

If you know of or can direct me to any prenatal, postpartum and home visit
protocols that will be helpful in the drafting of these, I would appreciate
it. I have already begun to search, but I would love to be pointed in the
direction of programs/plans/ ideas that have worked for others. I know I
have a lot to learn.

I am not very familiar with technical/medical situations with these yet, so
if this is an inappropriate request, please disregard or email me privately
and let me know.

Thank you,
Micky
