I am starting to think that something like "effective" latch might be
better, because I have seen so many mothers - probably the majority of the
mothers I see - who have agonizingly sore nipples and a fussy baby but tell
me "it can't be the latch, the nurses at the hospital all said the latch is
good." Perhaps it "looked good" but it wasn't "effective" because the
mother's nipples are being damaged and the baby isn't transferring milk
well.

Or maybe we just need a better definition of "good latch." To me this is
like saying you have a "good car" because the parts all seem to be there on
the outside, but when you get inside the springs in the seats cause you
agony and it will only drive at 10 km. per hour. No matter how nice it looks
on the exterior, it is not a "good car." It needs work!
