Continuing the "nibbling at the breast... No more!"

Osteopath's report: Lateral strain which caused the dysfunction between the
C-0 and C-1 (occipital and first vertebrae) which has been altering the
hypoglossal nerve (cranial nerve XII) responsible of the tongue's movement.

Linda's interpretation: The vertebrae at the base of the baby's skull where
the head sits on the top of the spine were out of alignment, causing
pressure on the nerves that controls tongue movement. Specifically, the
misalignment was side-to-side (left-right), enough to cause some nerve
entrapment. The two hypoglossal nerves (left and right) control movement of
the tongue. This could have happened during a mechanically
more-difficult-than-usual birth, or if the baby was in an odd or awkward
position in utero.

PERSONAL NOTE: I suspect entrapment of the hypoglossal nerve is one factor
in explaining why babies born by Cesarean surgery exhibit poor milk transfer
on days 2-5.
