Brenda:  Having been a LC for 21 years, I agree that more hands on
experience is needed beyond a year. I think it is good to see more
support for breastfeeding but 1 year  is not enough. I have grown and
still grow in the profession with new experiences and different moms.
Let me ask: if you had to have open heart surgery would you want someone
with several years experience or one with 1 year ?  I feel that
definitely more hands on is needed. My 2cents worth. Helen
