Several folks have sent me suggestions off-list. I'm really looking for
something evidence-based. I know this baby is my friend's and not the
doctor's, and that she should be able to ask him to provide references for
his recommendations, but that is not where she's at right now. She is still
grieving the loss of her two little girls, and really wants to do everything
right for this little guy. She's an L&D RN herself, and quite educated.
There is not a lot of breastfeeding friendly nutrition services around here
to refer her to.
I read through the toolkit on VLBW nutrition from Dr. Nancy Wight's group,
but it doesn't discuss post-discharge nutrition. Any other guidelines out there?
