I received a request for help today via email from a woman who lives in
a rural setting. I plan to see her next time she needs to visit the
base hospital for a obstetric clinic appointment.

This woman is having her 5th child and has breastfed them all for 9 -
10 months. She states - "I have experienced mastitis about six times
with each child. Each bout seems to be in close succession - with the
last child I got it in the first few weeks and would just get over one
bout when I got another. I have always fed from one side at each
feed."

Obviously a full assessment needs to be made and I need to find out
who diagnosed the mastitis and if indeed it was mastitis. She only has
3 weeks to go until she births - any ideas anyone? I'm thinking the one
sided feeding may be a significant factor here and I will need to find
out more about that.
