Thanks to all the docs and others who responded about this case.   The baby's
hct came back 32.   Doc says baby is anemic, "we wouldn't let anyone walk
around that way," and "physiologically the anemia is going to increase over
this time."  Wants baby to get Tri-Vi-Sol, an over the counter infant vitamin
including iron, 1ml/day, with f/u CBC in another month.

Mom is reluctant if this is actually borderline, but is also loathe to tick
off doctor and of course also wants to make sure the really is OK.

If anybody has literature that suggests this is a bad course, which they
could email or even fax me to give her ASAP, she and I would be most grateful.

(or on the other hand if anybody wants to tell me that this is not a crazy
prescription and the mom should do it and be grateful it was caught, that
would also be helpful)
