Hi Michelle
Could be TT but I am thinking that it sounds like a baby compensating for a
fast flow (OMER) with poor attachment. As well as pulling the baby in
closer (have a look at http://www.breastfeedingonline.com/newman.shtml for
some good videos on attachment) Mum could try detaching the baby when she ha
a let down, letting the strongest flow pass and then reattaching. She might
also find some relief from keeping her wrist really straight (in cross
cradle hold) and using the heel of her hand to pull the baby's shoulder
blades in even closer. This works the magic of tipping the baby's head back
a fraction (which also frees the nose a little and buries the chin just a
teenyy bit more into the breast) and many mothers find much relief from
this.
Hope that helps
