I am behind in my reading so these points may have already been addressed but
here goes.
Why would they add rice cereal to a feeding if baby aspirates? This is a
"foreign" material and breast milk along would not irritate the bronchial
tree. Also a good bottle o try with a narrow base that coud work well is the
Habermann feeder. I will re-read the post to see if I can glean more.
I worked with a baby with congenital tracheomlacia (full term) who had a
trach for almost a year. She was fed breast milk exclusively. Her mom was
insistent and the neonatologists at one of the larger Chicago teritiary care
centers was also insistent that she get breast milk, and that's why she was
so healthy. I still get Christmas Cards from this lady.
