Hello all! I have a question about what other units are doing for breastmilk
fortification and general layout of breastmilk storage rooms/delivery
procedures of milk to the unit by moms. I'd like to hear about other units
that are similar to ours (~80 beds, teaching facility). Currently we have an
enteral tech who works in the breastmilk room to prepare a 24 hr volume of
fortified EBM. She then places it in the pod refrigerators. Our
initiation/duration rate of BF is increasing rapidly (90% last two months!)
and we need to come up with a long term plan for fortification and thawing
of all this milk. Please let me know what is working in your areas.
Thanks in advance!
