Personally I don't have too much of a problem with clients that are really
abysmally ignorant - I get all wide-eyed and intensely interested and get
them to tell me *all* about it (whatever it is) until they wind down and
start to flounder. My "pet" difficulty though is the client who is so
thrilled with everything I've shared with her that she feels compelled to
give me "tips" for the next mom I work with - like the wonderful nipple
cream that healed *her* nipples (friars balsam ..) or the fabulous colic
mixture she has discovered which makes her baby sleep for *hours* ..
Sometimes these gems, in the form of second-hand "tips" received from her
Best Friend or SIL, are shared in the middle of an ante-natal class. I find
this situation particularly challenging, being at pains to preserve the
mom's enthusiasm, while at the same time giving the others more up-to-date
information! Does anyone have any brilliant ways of coping with this dilemma??
