In regard to the teacher who felt she needed to wean due to inability to pump
at work--I've had a fair number of teachers tell me it's virtually impossible
for them to find even 10 or 15 minutes to pump during the school day. I have
suggested reverse cycle nursing for women who can't pump--baby sleeps with
mom, nurses throughout the night and whenever mom is home, and sleeps most of
the time while mom is at work--but very few are interested in trying it. So,
I always encourage them to give whatever limited number of feeds they can
manage rather than weaning entirely, but at one month, I'd think it's pretty
unlikely many women can maintain a good supply for any length of time with
only infrequent and/or irregular nursings.
