Thank you all for your responses regarding Hep C.  We agree with all of the posts and what we are finding is different with this situation is that there seems to be an article (we can't find it) that mentions a HIV + and Hep C + mom and the connection that if any formula is given while breastfeeding it will damage the flora of the infant gut, therefore setting up micro tears in the gut and making them more susceptible to Hep C.  Our moms that are Hep C + only (not HIV) are recommended to either exclusively breastfeed until they see blood or to not breastfeed, especially if the infant has received any formula at all (i.e.: for medical reasons).  We are just trying to understand where this information is coming from and if anyone in the LC field has heard it mentioned before.
