I'm not Jennifer, but I thought I'd throw my $.02 in anyway. :) In my own
experience, as well as the experience of many Moms I've worked with,
echinacea does a great job in helping to clear up mastitis. In every single
case where the Mom has used echinacea (in addition to frequent nursing,
massage, heat, etc.), nobody has had to resort to antibiotics. Personally,
I had at least a dozen cases of mastitis in my son's first year (very long
story), and the first several times I had no choice but to take antibiotics,
when nothing else worked. Once I began using echinacea, I never had to take
antibiotics again. Anecdotal, I realize, but something to keep in mind
nonetheless.
