Question for you wise ones:

I am writing because this has come up several times now recently.
Is the sought-after weight gain arc different for babies who were born
prematurely?
I've seen several babies recently, born between 35-37 weeks gestation.
Babies well medically, now home. Local MDs and NP telling moms baby must gain
MORE than an ounce a day or weight gain is not satisfactory. One baby was
35 weeks and only weighed 2lb, 9 oz. Now at 5 weeks is 4lb 6 and gained
about 9 oz/8 days at most recent weigh-ins. MD said not good enough. ( Perhaps
because one weight gain was 6 in 4 days and the other was 3 in 4 days?) I
do think we can sometimes measure too much, too closely and put too much
emphasis on #s when we don't know if they are "real", or artifacts of
timing....

Is it healthy to pack weight on, or can a baby just grow nicely in its own
time? Also do these babies need a multi-vitamin at home, especially once
they are past due date? ( I don't mean D3, I mean multi)

Please enlighten me. Thanks!

Peace,
Judy
