Hi Deborah,
First of all, giving chamomile tablets in water changes the baby's status from exclusively breast, lowering the protection afforded to the baby. Secondly, from what you report, the camomile doesn't seem to be working (initial placebo effect - on mother's perception??). Thirdly, there may be a crossover effect in individuals allergic to ragweed pollen. (Talalaj & Czechowicz. Herbal remedies. Melbourne: Hill of Content, 1989, p. 35.) There are other management strategies for "colic", even though most are on a trial-and-error basis. So my question is: why give this medication at all?
      Cheers,
              Virginia
