Hi all,
Once again I want to call on the collective wisdom of this great group. Our facility has recentily started Unit Practice Committees. Each individual unit made a poster showing the members of the committee with the staff divided among them.
The Maternity/L&D group chose a baby theme, complete with storks, babies (staff) and bottles (committee members).
Anyways, I was quite upset at the choice of using bottles as one of their symbols. Incidently, the poster hangs in a hallway, in view of visitors and parents. I voiced my opinion and really thought it would be changed. It hasn't and remains in the hallway. I realize they just don't get it, but does any one have any ideas about how to get the message across?
I thought that I would mention the association in our culture of bottles and formula feeding and how in order to successfully promote and support breastfeeding we need to change culture. Any other ideas? I am going to be meeting with the committee early Wednesday morning.
Please email to the list, as I am having problems with my computer.
TIA,
Judy Hatfield RNC, IBCLC
Upstate NY
