Another thought after re-reading:

<My thought is that she could save time and maybe keep babe interested at breast if SNS was used from the onset of feeding>

In a situation like this, it seems to me that "saving time" is not helpful to the mom's agenda or the baby's. If supplementation is actually needed because of weight issues, investing time at the earliest possible hormonal stage seems a wise move, primarily for the baby's weight gain issues, and reciprocally for what the baby can do for the mother and her supply, long term.

Triggering prolactin surges and removing FIL frequently are aids to help mom's supply keep trending up, rather than trending down. Supply trending down is often what so many mothers seem to experience when supplements begin to solve the primary problem of weight issues. Without moms (and their significant others) being helped to understand that increased frequency of milk removal tends to build supply more effectively over even 1-3 days (depending on how long the frequency of milk removal has been lagging), it's too easy and "rational" to arrive at the ordinary "logical" conclusion to "wait a little longer till the breast fills a little more . . . . . . . . ." How many times we have all heard the outcome of that "logic", which the formula companies love to see as the conclusion moms reach!!
