Hello,
I am an Internist taking care of a patient who is breastfeeding a 3 mo
old. Previously with twins she had not problems with milk supply. Now with
a singleton she has had to supplement about two bottles per day of formula
since she started zyrtec 1 month ago. I told her to stop the zyrtec and pump
or breastfeed every two hours for 4 days to get back her supply. She is one
of these moms who wont breastfeed in public so she pumps and gives the baby a
bottle if she goes out. She is also on Seravent inhaler and Flovent for her
asthma. She also is taking immunotherapy to desensitize her to her allergens
here in the desert at Ft. Irwin, Ca. Could any of these other things
becausing her a decreased milk supply. Oh, she is taking Micronor OCP that
is progesterone only. Please let me know if you know anything about these
drugs and what the culprit could be. Thanks.
