Due to the early (80's I think) studies on gorillas, (in Georgia, I think -
the mom gorilla was better able to feed and mother baby when an experiences
"auntie" gorilla was nearby),  I have always explained to moms that even
though most babies are born with an instinct to suck (evidenced by the
babies who crawl to the breast so efficintly in the Ringhard video), that
breastfeeding correctly, opening the mouth WIDE and taking a "Burger King"
sized mouthful of breast is not instinctive.  This moms teach their babies
by helping them on - then baby learns from getting rewarded by getting a
much better mouthful of colostrum or milk when at the breast correctly.
