 HI All,
OK, back to the original question...Can mom use a supplementer at breast and
wean at the same time?
No. Any suckling at breast will stimulate the supply so if a mom wants to
wean, she must reduce the time the baby spends at breast nursing. Besides,
an 18 mo old would know the supplementer was there and most likely play with
it, take it off, or refuse to nurse. So if mom wants to use it to put baby
off from the breast, that might work, but I don't think that is what she was
thinking about.
A gentle, gradual weaning would be her best bet. Drop a feed a day for a
few days, then another and another, making sure to spend lots of time
cuddling and loving.
Hope this helps.
