This starts to veer a bit off the topic of mixing by now, but I love
this idea that the LC did. I'm sure there are some moms who would panic
completely and not appreciate this "expensive formula" being "wasted",
but if she could "feel out" the ones who would do ok, then it's kind of
a neat idea (especially the pretext of why she was doing it). Besides,
usually a store with formula is only a short drive away to get more if
*really* needed.

I myself absolutely refused to have formula at all in the house so that
people would not be able to resort to that. In fact, I did have one
feeding-size of a soy-based formula that I had gotten as a "freebie" (of
course) that I hid in my underwear drawer. I kept it until she was 8
months old and eating some solids. It was my back up in the sense that
if ever I went out for some reason without my daughter (didn't happen)
and couldn't get back, I could explain to whoever was there where it
was.

But to all eyes there was no formula in the house. Even my husband did
not know I had this sachet of formula.

so, no one could tell me to break out the formula because the babe was
hungry & i didn'Mt have "enough milk".

fio.
