Does anyone have any innovative suggestions to help a mother of a
premature baby, now 36 weeks corrected, who is having problems holding
her baby during breastfeeds due to the pain in her hands? The carpal
tunnel problem only occurs when she breastfeeds and this has happened
with her previous prem baby. She did not have any problems during
pregnancy but as she delivered at 24 weeks and 27 weeks respectively
perhaps the onset now is when it would have happened if it was pregnancy
related?! I'm not clear as to the aetiology of the condition so don't
know if this is a possibility or not. We have played around with
different positions with limited relief. This baby although only just 36
weeks is breastfeeding effectively for up to 15 mins at a feed.
All suggestions welcome. email me privately if you prefer.
